Covid-19 Watch: 1,210 new cases, says Health Ministry


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 1,210 new Covid-19 infections on Monday (Oct 17), says the Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry said through data released on its KKMNow portal on Tuesday (Oct 18) that this brings the new total to 4,868,402 cases since the pandemic began.

Of the 1,210, one is an imported case while 1,209 are local.

The ministry also said through its KKMNow portal that there were 2,026 recoveries on Monday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 23,070.

Of the active cases, 95.4% or 22,002 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 4.4% of active cases or 1,025 individuals need to be hospitalised, with 43 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.

Of that number, 19 require ventilator support.
